UGT and CCOO have agreed 11 November for a planned nationwide general strike over housing affordability, UGT secretary-general Pepe Álvarez said on 7 October, according to Europa Press. The unions announced plans for a 24-hour stoppage after a proposal from the Sindicato de Inquilinas.

The stated demands link access to a decent home with adequate wages. The mobilisation would come shortly before the general-election campaign begins.

## What this could mean in Segovia

A strike announcement is not a timetable of local disruptions. Residents should watch for confirmed notices from transport operators, schools, public services and organisers. We have not verified a Segovia demonstration route or local minimum-service arrangements, and no blanket closure should be assumed.

If you have travel, childcare or appointments planned for 11 November, keep the date in view and check the relevant provider closer to the day. Workers considering participation should consult their union for advice about their circumstances.

**Our assessment:** the significance is that housing costs are being framed as a workplace issue as well as a tenants’ issue. Local impact will depend on participation and the arrangements ultimately announced.
