Editorial Note
Our editorial approach
The Segovian exists to help readers understand Segovia more deeply.
We approach the city with curiosity, context and independence. We want to look closely at what is changing, ask useful questions and make room for the people and ideas that deserve attention.
Rooted here.
Looking outward.
Local life does not happen in isolation. Housing, work, migration, technology and culture connect Segovia to wider conversations. We explore those connections while keeping sight of how people experience them here.
Our international perspective is a way of asking questions, not a boundary around our audience. Long-standing residents and newcomers both have knowledge to contribute. Neither speaks for the whole city.
Different forms.
Clear distinctions.
News
Factual reporting on relevant developments, with a clear account of what is known, where the information comes from and what remains uncertain.
Analysis
Context, explanation and interpretation grounded in evidence and identifiable sources. We distinguish established facts from our reading of their significance.
Editorial
The institutional editorial perspective of The Segovian: a considered position on an issue that merits discussion.
Opinion
Views expressed by individual contributors. They do not necessarily represent the position of The Segovian, and contributors may disagree with one another.
Accuracy, fairness
and transparency.
We aim to verify information, identify sources and give readers the context needed to assess a story. We acknowledge uncertainty, seek relevant perspectives and correct errors when they are brought to our attention.
Fairness means representing people and their arguments accurately. It does not require treating every claim as equally supported. Commercial collaborations should be clearly identified and distinguishable from independent editorial coverage.
Open to disagreement.
Careful with people.
We welcome different perspectives and respectful debate. Every contribution is subject to editorial review for relevance, clarity, sourcing and fairness.
Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks, unsupported accusations and discriminatory or hateful content are not. Criticism should engage with actions, ideas and evidence, with care for the people involved.
A conversation
worth continuing.
Readers help us see what we have missed. If you spot an error, have relevant information or want to suggest a story, please get in touch. Include the article link and any supporting material so we can review it.
