Sabores con Memoria opens a month for stories about local food
The sixth Sabores con Memoria short-story competition opens on 20 October, with submissions accepted until 20 November. The Diputación initiative asks writers to connect food with the memory of Segovia’s villages.
The announced rules cover people over 16 who live in the province or study at its schools or universities. Each entrant may submit one original, unpublished story of no more than 500 words. It must mention a municipality in the province and connect local food with healthy or sustainable eating. Work created using AI tools is excluded.
The first prize is €300 and a local-food hamper; the second is €200 and a hamper. Entries are submitted through the Diputación’s registry or electronic office, rather than by email. The specified file format is PDF, with Times New Roman 12 and 1.5 line spacing.
For a prospective entrant, the practical first step is to read the complete rules and confirm eligibility before writing. A family recipe or a remembered meal can provide a starting point, but the final story must be the entrant’s own work and meet the competition’s conditions. Keep evidence of submission and leave time for the registration process before the deadline.
