Cuesta de los Hoyos reopens: a familiar route, a renewed road
One of Segovia’s important approaches is back in use. The Cuesta de los Hoyos reopened to traffic on Friday, 2 October, following rehabilitation of the SC-SG-21.
The renewed stretch runs for approximately 1.865 kilometres between the bus-station area and La Fuencisla. According to local reporting on the regional government’s announcement, the main works cost about €700,921.
A reopening, not an invitation to speed
The intervention included resurfacing, drainage improvements, pavement repairs and renewed signage. Three viewpoints were also improved. The mayor has said the council will enforce the 30 km/h limit and is considering a section-speed camera; that proposal should not be confused with a camera already operating.
For residents who have been working around the closure, the immediate news is straightforward: the road is open again. Follow the signs on the ground, including any temporary restrictions, rather than assuming that an old route in a navigation app is up to date.
Why it matters
Our assessment: everyday mobility depends on more than the major roads into a city. An approach linking the lower neighbourhoods with the bus-station area can matter to residents, deliveries and visitors alike. Its reopening deserves practical attention without treating smoother tarmac as permission to drive faster.
This report concerns the road. It does not announce new bus timetables, additional services or changes to fares.
